Gemot Wersig & Ulrich Neveling inward "The phenomena of involvement to data science, a search for identify" (1974) identified the structural approach (matter-oriented), the noesis approach in addition to the message approach to information. The matter-oriented approach, ordinarily leading to something that may hold upwards called Structure-definition, states that the structures of the the world which may hold upwards perceived or non are 'information'. The Knowledge approach states that the noesis built upwards on the dry reason of perception of the construction of the the world is 'information'. The message approach states that 'information' is oftentimes equated amongst 'message' (as the data content is measured past times the message).
